Christmas Break

Hey all,

The gentlemen here at SHF are taking the week off for Christmas, so there isn't anything planned for this week.  See you all next year!

Thanks,
Scott

P.S.-  Also taking the week of  1/2/12 off.  Wizzle and I were partying too hard last week to get an episode in.  Sorry!

MLG EXTREME Episodes 76, 77

Hey,

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been pretty busy on projects outside of SHF, one of which will be revealed relatively soon.  Both projects are Halo related, in case you were wondering.  Now let's get down to business.

Two new MLG EXTREME episodes were released since our last update.  You can hit the links below to watch them.

MLG EXTREME Episode 76: "King of the Hill"

MLG EXTREME Episode 77: "The Wiz Train"

That should be it for this week.  We'll see you guys next Monday.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 75: "Breakneck"

Hey,

Sorry for the month long wait, but new content is out.  Personal problems got in the way, and I have to take care of those first before I can commit myself to you guys.  I know it sucks, but that's how things are gonna have to be as long as this is just a hobby.

But lo and behold, MLG EXTREME Episode 75: Breakneck is out.  You can view it here or down below:

Wizzle and I just got done recording a bit more before writing this, and we got some awesome stuff.  We have lots of other content, too.  But it's not very good content in my opinion.  I'm sure it'll make it's way onto SHF eventually as an Extra or something, but I'll only use it as a last resort for an episode.

Anywho, We've been caught up in some good games recently and we hope to capture their worlds as well as Reach's.  Until then, stay classy.

Thanks,
Scott

Newz and Updates

Hey,

First off I would like to apologize for the delays in MLG EXTREME.  We've been too busy enjoying Battlefield 3 to really crank anything out.  I do have some footage, although it's not very funny.  With the lack of private matches, it makes doing funny things much more difficult.

But alas, Halo: CEA is coming out soon and hopefully our Halo interest will be revived.  Truth is, we got kinda bored with the game.  I still love it, but it begins to get a bit repetitive after you've been playing it for about 2 1/2 years straight.  Halo is our home and always will be, and it's the place where we can get the best footage.  Also, since time has been limited between Wizzle and I recently, we haven't been able to put that much energy towards planning out good episodes.  Once again, we apologize.  We really should've stockpiled videos this summer.  Our bad.

I've got to say, I'm rather unsure about the future of MLG EXTREME.  With limited feedback from fans, I don't know if it's gotten dull.  I really don't want to end it.  I know I could make a killer finale that would reduce everyone to tears, but we're not ready for that yet.  We have a lot of love in MLG EXTREME, and ending it would tear us up.  So we're gonna keep going no matter what.  Sometimes I forget the philosophy that drove us in our earlier days.  MLG EXTREME is not a way to score views.  It is a way for Wizzle and I to catalogue some of the best times of our lives.  It's about having fun, and that's all that matters.

In happier news, we started a Battlefield 3 platoon!  You can request to join by hitting the link below.  All you'll need is a Battlelog account, which is fast, easy, and free to make.

Join the Team MLG EXTREME Battlefield 3 Platoon!

So until Wizzle and I get our acts straight, ya'll are gonna have to wait on the MLG EXTREME's.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 74, Project Redux

Hey,

First off, business as usual on Mondays (it's actually Tuesday, but the episode was released yesterday).  MLG EXTREME: Episode 74.  Wizzle and I mixed it up a bit and took to Read Dead Redemption for this episode while we eagerly await Battlefield 3.  It actually turned out to be a long and pretty funny episode.  Let me know if you guys like it, because we certainly do have more footage if you all don't mind the break from Halo.  Hit the link below to watch it.

MLG EXTREME Episode 74: "The Hunt"

Also, I have mentioned several times that I have other projects on the back burner.  Today I'm ready to start talking about one, but only briefly.  About 2 months ago I became affiliated with a small video game company called Warhead Studios.  I took a lead writing position and have been working to write for their game.  While the studio isn't ready to reveal the game, I can say that we are currently calling it "Project Redux."  You can follow us on the studio's new website as well as my personal devlog.  Can't wait to talk about it more.

Warhead Studio's Site

That wraps it up for this week.  See you next Monday!

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 73: "The Flaming Ninja Challenge"

Hey,

Team MLG EXTREME is back again this week with another challenge course.  We attempted petetheduck's "Flaming Ninja Challenge 2."  We failed miserably but had fun while doing it.

You can watch the episode here.

Scott

Videos and stuff that I forgot to post

Hey,

Sorry I haven't updated this thing in a month. I've just been lazy to be honest. Anyway, listen to this while I tell you what's up.

I actually posted that song because I'm pretty pumped about LoZ: Skyward Sword. Ocarina of Time was the reason I got my N64 way back in 1999 or 2000 or whenever it was. Wizzle and I are also looking forward to Battlefield 3 and Halo: CEA. Some pretty awesome livestreams coming up!

Since I last updated this, I've gotten my hands on a super powerful computer. For example, on my old laptop a standard MLG EXTREME took about an hour to render. This computer took 6 minutes to render a video of that length, and I didn't even jack up the settings all the way. This new computer is going to make SHF even more awesome now that I have some serious power.

Oh, and a couple of MLG EXTREME's were released too:

MLG EXTREME Episode 71: "The Mexican Warthog"

MLG EXTREME Episode 72: "Party Crashers"

Enjoy!

In other news, Wizzle and I have been thinking about doing a small podcast. The idea has been tossed around a lot during the past year but we may actually do it. I think it would be cool for viewers to see the people behind the videos. If we don't get to that, I'm sure we'll be doing a lot in the new games coming out this year. I'm really looking forward to that. I haven't gotten a new game in nearly a year and, to be quite honest, Halo: Reach is starting to bore me a bit. I need to mix things up a bit. Wizzle and I were gonna do a Minecraft series but 1.8 isn't compatible with our server...yet.

Lots on the horizon, and lots of things are in the works. Things I can't talk to you about...yet.

Stay tuned,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 70, Moar Newz

Hey,

Another late upload, but at least its out. You can check out MLG EXTREME Episode 70: "Soldiers In Arms" here. And with that, ladies and gentlemen, we close the books on season 7 of MLG EXTREME. Hope you all enjoyed it!

Also, next week I'm putting in my order for a new computer, so as fall and winter nears and my life is consumed by...*shudders*...REAL LIFE...it should make things run a bit more smoothly and efficiently. I'll also be doing a lot more livestreaming. More on that later.

In other news, Clash & Desire is delayed until further notice due to my lack of caring anymore. I've realized that SHF is where my heart is at. I appreciate the love and generosity that has come from Revive and it's community, and I will finish C&D, but when I have a bit of breathing room to do so.

I also hope you all are enjoying the exciting news coming out of PAX and Halo Fest! (I'm incredibly sad that SHF wasn't invited. We totally could've held our own panel and it would've been the shit.) Just a bit of food for thought for the future: We honestly don't know what our future is after Reach. We have another year yet before we have to decide whether to move onto Halo 4, move to Bungie's new game (if its even announced/released by then), or just end MLG EXTREME all together. In my honest opinion I don't know how much more we can do in Halo. MLG EXTREME did have a sudden surge of creativity in it's episodes, but how much longer that will last I do not know. Perhaps a new game will give MLG EXTREME a breath of new life, but we will only move away from Halo if we know the new game is going to be fun and that Halo 4 will suck. It's still too early to know that yet, but just keep that in mind for the future.

And that's it I think. Enjoy your last bits of summer, I know we will. Wizzle and I will be getting in our last summer Halo nights before our world turns snowy, dark, and depressing again.

Peace out,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 69, Promo 2

Hey,

Sorry I haven't been updating this thing as soon as I should recently. I just forget about it now. It really doesn't even matter, because nobody even visits this thing, but it makes me feel like I'm trying to reach out to my deceptive and mysterious audience.

As more and more projects pile up and I'm becoming increasingly demanded (not only on the machinima/Halo front, but in real life as well), I've just had a hard time keeping up and staying focused. Life keeps just interrupting my plans for a wicked SHF expansion and I doubt I'll get done as much as I wanted to get done before summer draws to a close. I'm also starting to believe that I made a mistake when agreeing to do Clash & Desire. Maybe my interest will be reinvigorated come fall/winter, but those two seasons bring an even more hectic schedule. I think I'm going to keep my focus on SHF from now on, because I've realized that I'm happier when I'm in charge and producing content featuring my closet friends. SHF is really, really special to me and when next spring rolls around I'm going to put my heart and soul into giving it the attention it deserves.

But fear not, I've still managed to get content out, no matter how late it is. Recently I've released a second promo for MLG EXTREME showcasing random highlights throughout the series. If you're looking for a sweet montage, then this video isn't for you. I simply smashed some clips together from previous episodes to create a feeling of nostalgia and remembrance for all of the places we've been and all of the laughs we've had. You can see the MLG EXTREME Promo 2 here.

We've also released MLG EXTREME Episode 69, which commemorates our favorite number, 69. And it wouldn't be an MLG EXTREME celebration without a giant forged penis. This episode had some very positive reactions and gave us a nice little jump in subscribers in the wake of it's release. You can watch MLG EXTREME Episode 69: "The Art of Cack Forging" here.

In other news, the shift key fell off of my keyboard and I can't reattach it, so I'm forced to push the little button that was under the key to use the left shift key, which is the habitual shift key and I simply can't adjust myself to use the shift key on the right side of the keyboard. Good thing I'm going to acquire a new computer in the coming months. Should help me produce content quicker as well. I need to stop spending so much money.

And that just about wraps it up. Thanks so much for all of your support. Remember to tell your friends and your mother about us.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 68: "MLG Wii"

Hey,

Sorry about the delays. I think we're still a week behind, but we're just gonna keep moving on. We've been too busy to really fit MLG EXTREME into our schedules.

Anyways, here is MLG EXTREME Episode 68. We decided to mix things up a bit this episode. Turned out to be really funny.

New MLG EXTREME's, News, and whatever

Hey,

It's not that I've turned into a lazy fuck (actually, I have,) but I've been consumed in a lot of other projects and Clash & Desire (I'll start using C&D to abbreviate) has been taking a lot of my time. In turn, MLG EXTREME is still suffering. I knew I promised you guys an MLG EXTREME return, but I'm a one man army and can only do so much. So don't be shocked if you don't find a new MLG EXTREME in your YouTube video feed every single Monday. In fact, this week's episode will be delayed for a while (I'll explain why in a second). Wizzle and I do have some cool ideas up our sleeve before summer ends and real life puts Wizzle and I out of our zone again.

I also have been a lazy fuck in updating this blog. Here's the new MLG EXTREME's:
MLG EXTREME Episode 66: "Bungie Day 2011" (Sorry about the audio in this one. I must've forgotten to turn down the game volume.)

MLG EXTREME Episode 67: "Halo King"
(This was a lulzy episode, despite its length).

Aaaaaand I think that wraps up everything. I'm heading out to Chicago tomorrow so you won't hear anything from me for a few days (I forget when I get back), so that will delay this week's MLG EXTREME even longer. Don't forget that episode 1 of C&D launches this Saturday (the 30th).

See you whenever,
Scott

Clash & Desire- Season 1 Trailer

Hey,

The trailer accidentally squeaked out a few days early due to some confusion, but it's up on Revive's channel. You can see the trailer here.

Episode 1 launches 7/30/11. Hope you guys enjoy the series!

Thanks,
Scott

Next week's MLG EXTREME delayed

Hey,

I'm currently on vacation and the internet here sucks so bad that I can't upload anything to YouTube. That means that MLG EXTREME Episode 66 is gonna be pushed back until next Saturday at the soonest. Sorry, especially since we just returned.

I doubt I would've even had time to upload it if I could. I've been furiously working on another project that will hopefully launch when I get back home.

Stay tuned,
Scott

The Return of MLG EXTREME

Hey,

Here's the trailer for the return of MLG EXTREME. See you Monday!

Also, here's another Random Fun in Reach. There probably won't be any more of these since MLG EXTREME is back, but who knows. I never intended for it to turn into a mini-series anyway.

That's it for now.

Thanks,
Scott

A Message to Machinimators

Hey,

I'm currently in the middle of production for the first episode in new series I'm doing for Revive, but there are some things that I wanted to say here.

Recently I've been getting asked about how to become a better machinimator. While there is no magic pill that will make you become the next Jon CJG overnight, there are things that you can do to make you better.

I guess the most important aspect is practice. Take a look back at my first machinima that I made nearly 2 years ago. It's absolutely God awful. I had no idea what I was doing, but I made it in nearly 4 hours. It's very impressive how far I've come. Every machinima I made after that I got increasingly better. I started to figure out how to write a decent script and how to create dramatic moments that send a shiver right through your spine (I love creating moments like that in machinima.) It just took practice for me to get where I am now (As soon as Clash & Desire hits the internet for the first time you will really see my improvement.) Even since MLG EXTREME: The Movie, I've come a long way. The movie was absolutely instrumental in my machinima progress. I really learned a lot from it. It was very complicated and took a lot of thinking to create. Looking back at it, the acting (both voice and body), camera shots, and writing were horrid, but I learned from it. I guess that's all machinima is. A giant learning experience. No matter how good you are, you'll always learn and improve. So don't get discouraged if you're just starting out and you can't produce top-quality entertainment, it just takes practice.

The next thing you have to do is watch machinima. Study others' work. I've watched hours upon hours of machinima, just studying voice acting/editing/camera techniques. I've learned from those and have really stepped up my game. You can always learn from the competition.

You also need to develop your own technique. That means you gotta personalize your machinima with your own style; whether it be camera technique, editing technique, or writing technique.

As you advance in machinima you'll start to pick up on the more advanced things in machinima, such as character development in your script. But all of that will fall into place if you pursue it long enough.

Make sure you take every opportunity to promote and advance yourself, too. If it wasn't for all the work I've done in the past, I would've never ended up with Revive. And now I have the opportunity to really shine at Revive and help build a company with enormous potential.

Also, I'm not claiming to be an expert here. Like all of you, I need to practice and improve, and the only way to do that is to make machinima and study machinima. Trust me, I still make lots of mistakes.

Good luck on your machinima ventures!
-Scott

Random Fun in Reach 2: "Sergeant JT's War Stories"

Hey,

Here's Random Fun in Reach 2: "Sergeant JT's War Stories" is currently uploading. It's just a little bit of content to tide you over until I can officially resume MLG EXTREME on a normal schedule. I just gotta get through this coming week first. It's gonna be hell.

Thanks,
Scott

Updates...again

Hey,

Lots to talk about, where do I begin?

Clash & Desire has evolved into a monster project over the past couple of weeks. Voice actors have been enlisted, music has been produced, and scenes have been acted. We've given our script to a few people to read over, and everyone seems to love it. I still can't give out any details about the plot, but those will come soon.

I've been blown away by the help that Revive has given me in the production of Clash & Desire. They've handled every request I've given them with professionalism. I couldn't ask for more from them.

Secondly, MLG EXTREME will make its triumphant return this summer. Details on that coming up soon, too.

It's shaping up to be a great summer, folks. I was not expecting this partnership with Revive. It's funny how things can change so quickly. I'll save those stories for later, though.

So now we're working on two fronts. MachinimaRevive and ShawtyHullstineFilms. Stick around to hear more.

Thanks,
Scott

Just Checking In

Hey,

Wow, I've been gone a while. What's new, you ask?

Well, the scripts for Clash & Desire are finished and production should begin after we take care of forging the sets and such. I'm so excited to start. If you're reading this, then I consider you a loyal fan, so I'll let you in on a secret.

Clash & Desire will most likely run 16 weeks, depending on how Revive wants to release it. One week there will be a new episode, and the next week there will be commentary on that episode. That's how things are planned to go down right now.

Once season 1 begins airing, I'm going right to work on season 2. I'll also restart MLG EXTREME this summer, for those of you who are missing the show.

That's about it for now. See ya around.

Thanks,
Scott

Clash & Desire

Hey,

So a few days ago I added a new list on the sidebar of my blog titled "Clash & Desire- Season 1." That's the title of my new machinima series for MachinimaRevive.

I can't tell you how excited I am to start production on this series. With the help of the guys from Revive, I've written the entire season and after some final proofreading, I'll start acting and filming while the guys from Revive get the voices for me.

I've written this series with one factor in mind. Time. I'm going to be busier than usual this summer, so I've tried to limit episode times. I also believe that the season will start off a bit slowly, as most series premieres do. But I need time to introduce the characters. Trust me, things will get exciting after the first few episodes.

I'm not exactly sure when the series will start airing. I'm producing the entire season before Revive starts airing, just to make sure that we can air one per week or however Revive decides to release the episodes.

But all and all, it should be fun. Hopefully Team MLG EXTREME will make their triumphant return this summer, too.

Thanks,
Scott

Some news and stuff

Hey,

You guys haven't heard from me in a while, but I've been hard at work writing for my next thing. It's a time consuming job, but I'm confident that I'm doing the right thing. If I wasn't confident in it, then I wouldn't have completely halted regular SHF programming.

I'm not really at liberty to give many details about my next project at the moment, but there are a few things I can tell you.

First, I am writing a series exclusive to MachinimaRevive. I've been in close contact with one of Revive's owners for a while now and he and I have been talking for a good time, but it wasn't until a couple weeks ago after I finished the MLG EXTREME Movie that he and I really started thinking about a new project. I had a basic idea of what I wanted to do, but he got my imagination going and is also helping me write the script. He is also getting me some real voice actors and supplying other key components to this series, so I really can't take all the credit for it.

This series will be 8 episodes long, probably 1 episode per week, plus some director's commentary. There really isn't any violence in the series until toward the end, so the scenes should be easy for me to film. We're also trying to keep the episodes short, but I have a feeling that they could get a bit long.

I've really enjoyed writing so far. We currently have a story arc planned out and 3 episodes written. I'm really focusing hard on character development throughout the writing process. I'm also able to put a lot of myself into the main character, which is really enriching the story and development of the main character. I'm also putting a lot of effort into drama, but at the risk of losing comedy. I realize that without comedy a lot of people won't want to watch it, but I know that my strong suit is creating drama. My co-writer is keeping me in line and pointing out where some comedy needs to take place, so hopefully the series won't be dry of comedy.

I think this series will start off slow, as most series do, but things will pick up toward mid-season. You'll just have to give it time. And if people really like it, I'd be more than happy to do a second season.

We're going to produce all of the episodes before we release the series, so it should be a while before SHF resumes regular programming. I'm hoping that Team MLG EXTREME and friends will make their triumphant return sometime this summer.

And I haven't forgotten about the director's commentary of MLG EXTREME: The Movie. I'll get to that when I'm in the mood.

Thanks so much for your patience. I know that I'm not doing SHF any justice by depriving it of material, but I really want people to be able to see this story. I don't care if SHF doesn't benefit one bit from it. But I realize that this could potentially be a huge opportunity for me, so I'm gonna run with it.

Thanks,
Scott

Taking a little break

Hey,

So I mentioned a little while ago that we were facing some delays. Well after a bit of thinking, I've decided to take a little vacation. I'm not sure when my next video will be out. Possibly next week, possibly next month.

I looked through the MLG EXTREME's that I have recored yesterday and I wasn't really impressed by them. I don't want to put a bad impression on any new subscribers that we've gained after the movie. Plus, I need time to think about how to make the show better. I also need time to think of future machinimas. I have a few OKG's recorded as well, but those won't be out until I get this MLG EXTREME situation taken care of.

So spread the word about my absence. I don't want anybody thinking that I died.

Thanks,
Scott

P.S.- I'm also collaborating with an affiliate on a possible machinima series. More on that to come.

Delays, HNNNNG

Hey,

I'm currently 2 weeks behind on MLG EXTREME. Not once in the 1 1/2 year history of MLG EXTREME have I ever fallen this far behind. I'm sorry.

Life has been an absolute bitch lately. My health is deteriorating and I'm under a ton of stress. There's just a ton going on right now, and after the wake of the MLG EXTREME Movie I've just been really tired.

Anyways, I have a few MLG's recorded, a few OKG's, and maybe some others things. I forget. I know I promised that things would start moving, but give me a little more time. Hopefully I can dig myself out of my things.

Thanks,
Scott

New MLG, delay on this week's

Hey,

I was going to wait to update my blog until this week's MLG EXTREME was up, but I haven't really had time to edit/render it. The Movie threw a wrench in my schedule, so sorry. I crunched really hard to release/promote it for my target date. Also on the burner is a new Overkill Glitches, as well as a couple of MLG EXTREME Extras (which I haven't done many of recently).

So thanks for being patient. You can see MLG EXTREME Episode 64: "Love Letters From Wizzle" here.

If you want to submit a question to Wizzle (it can be about anything), then simply send a YouTube PM to ShawtyHullstineFilms.

Thanks,
Scott

News on MLG EXTREME and some fan art!

Hey,

First and foremost, I want to say thanks for making MLG EXTREME: The Movie a success. I really hope you enjoyed it. It should be up on MachinimaRevive soon and a director's commentary should be here soon.

Secondly, there will be 2 MLG EXTREME's uploaded today since we missed last week due to the crunch for MLG EXTREME: The Movie. We are starting a segment at the end of MLG EXTREME that will be on every other episode (really haven't decided how often yet) called "Love Letters From Wizzle," where Wizzle will answer your questions in his crude sense of humor. You can submit those questions to him via YouTube PM to ShawtyHullstineFilms. The questions can be about anything.

Lastly, TomRSM, a long-time devoted fan of SHF, sent me in some fan pictures. He added some cool text to these Halo pictures. You can see them below. The stupid Blogger formatting cut them off a little bit, but you can click on them to see the whole thing. They're also available on my Flickr Photostream, which is also viewable on the right hand side of my blog.

It's really cool to see fans going out of their way to make us things like this. I can't tell you how much I appreciate things like these.

Thanks,
Scott

The Clogged Toilet of SHF

Hey,

So I still have to release MLG EXTREME this week. We've recorded it like 4 times this week because we wanted it to be a good one. We'll release the not-so-good takes as Extras. We also have an Overkill Glitches Episode coming out soon, too, as well as the MLG EXTREME: The Movie Director's Commentary.

So yeah, we're just really backed up right now. I'll start to get things moving.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME: The Movie

Hey,

So it's finally here. MLG EXTREME: The Movie has been released. You can see it here.

There are those who said this day would never come, what are they to say now?

I really hope you guys enjoy it. All of those who participated in early screening gave me outstanding feedback. It's pretty scary putting out a machinima that you've been promoting for 4 months, because you run the risk of really disappointing the viewers who have eagerly waited since the first promo trailer aired. But it has to be released at some point.

I'm actually really sorry for the long wait. This movie could have really been released about 2 months ago, but a VERY tight schedule and pure laziness really pushed the release date back. Still, countless hours were put it working out the bugs from the movie. I really wanted to make sure that it was perfect. Although there are a few mistakes in there, (well, I may be the only one that can notice them. Anyone who spends 4 months on a machinima must know the entire thing inside-out.) it really turned out great. It's also a lot longer then I expected (nearly 18 1/2 minutes). From what I can remember, probably 30 hours (or more) were put into the making of this film. Several hours writing the 6 page script (that will be up for download soon), several hours of acting, 6 hours of filming, and several hours of editing/rendering.

There are a lot of things I want to talk about with this movie. I think I'm going to release a director's commentary soon just to talk everyone through the movie. There is really a lot to be said.

In the end, I hope it changes the way you see MLG EXTREME, or at least re-sparks your interest in the show.

You'll be hearing more from me soon about MLG EXTREME: The Movie.

I really hope you enjoy it.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 63: "Boneyard"

Hey,

The new MLG EXTREME is out. Sorry about the delay.

You can see it here. This one's about 19 minutes long. If you don't watch all of it, at least skip through it. It has its funny moments.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME delay this week

Hey,

MLG EXTREME is delayed this week. Blame FortressCraft.

I doubt many of you care though. I'm starting to get the feeling that MLG EXTREME is no longer satisfactory to some of you, and I don't blame you. It's not satisfactory to me either. Within the next few weeks my scheduling issues will diminish and a few giant knots in the system, such as the MLG EXTREME Movie, will be yanked out. I will then have more time to dedicate to the show and hopefully improve it. I really want to start cutting episodes. Since the beginning I've just thrown the raw file into a template I have set up and then rendered that. However, it usually just ends up into a 15 minute episode, which I can see getting boring real fast. I want to start editing the episodes to about 6 minutes. The hardest part though is finding the funny parts to edit, since most of the dialogue in the episodes are part of a larger conversation.

Anyway, I'm sorry. Things have been rough lately. The diminishing quality of my work and the resulting decrease in subscriptions have been killing me. I've always said that I don't care about subscriptions, but in the end I guess I do. They give me a good indication of exactly how many people are interested in my work, and that interest has a direct result on my motivation. But in the end this is all a learning experience. We're all in this together, guys. We're a giant family, and that's the way I want things to work.

Stay tuned for more information,
Scott

Blood Gulch: Evolved

Hey,

I've had some of this recorded for a while, but after some displeasure with this week's MLG EXTREME I felt like I had to make it up to you guys somehow.

So I present you with Blood Gulch: Evolved. You can see it here. It's a quick look at the evolution of Blood Gulch from Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo: Reach. A little bit of all of us are in the gulch.

Anyways, hopefully that was enough to tide you guys over for this week. How 'bout it? Still friends?

Love you guys,
Scott

Edit- Featured on HBO!!!

MLG EXTREME Episode 62: "-69"

Hey,

The new MLG EXTREME is out on time. Yay. You can see it here.

Some people aren't too thrilled with this episode. I think it's pretty funny. I guess it's up to you to decide. If you don't tell me what I'm doing wrong, then I can't fix anything.

Thanks,
Scott

EDIT- I've had a couple unsubscriptions recently. I take unsubscriptions very seriously. It means that my content isn't good. I'm the kind of person that tries their hardest to satisfy everyone, but the hard truth is that it's hard to satisfy everyone. I know SHF is in a bit of a dryspell right now, but I promise you that this summer we are going to blow you guys away. MLG EXTREME: The Movie is just clogging everything up right now. I'm a one man army guys. Sure there are people who give me a hand here and there, but I do all of the manual work myself. Go easy on me, give me constructive criticism, and let me try to make you guys happy.

MLG EXTREME Episode 61: "For the Fans"

Hey,

This week's MLG EXTREME is out late. Sorry. Expect next week's episode to be late, too. Busy busy!

You can see MLG EXTREME Episode 61 here.

I chose not to talk in this episode to let others have a turn to talk. This recording session actually took place after our interview. We played some sweet custom games and had a good time. We'll do it again sometime.

Thanks,
Scott

Thoughts on Current World Affairs

Hey,

I'm on my typical Sunday depression spree again. I hate Sundays.

Anyways, tonight I have been thinking on the cynicism currently in the world today. It's a wonder that the world hasn't swallowed humanity whole. The way we treat each other is disgusting. Tonight I'm especially disgusted by all the hate being aimed toward America during the multiple crises going on in the world right now. The disasters in Japan and the uprisings in the middle east are creating a lot of hate toward America.

Listen, I'm American, so you're probably thinking that I'm another fat American oil-hogging pig spewing his nationalist opinions on his YouTube channel's blog page. But my opinions are relevant and logical. There are things about America that I like and things about it that I don't like.

Look at this video's comments section. Honestly it makes me sick to my stomach to see the crap that the Eastern Europeans are spewing. America is intervening in Libya because a ruthless dictator is killing his own people for wanting freedom. If you have a problem with that then go fuck yourself. You can sit in your basement and make up shitty conspiracies that don't make sense but all you are is blind. The truth is right in front of you. I hate people that think that there is a hidden truth behind everything. The United States is attacking Libya and setting up a puppet government for free oil? After all, all Americans are fat, rich, oil-guzzling pigs that only care about themselves. After all, the BILLIONS OF DOLLARS GIVEN IN AID TO NATURAL DISASTER RELIEF AND TO LESS-FORTUNATE COUNTRIES (INCLUDING NORTH KOREA) ARE JUST LIES! Right? Am I right? /sarcasm.

You want the truth? Turn on CNN and watch for a while. Go to YouTube and look at the atrocities being documented by people on the streets of Libya. There is no hidden reason for any war! Why is the US in Afghanistan? Because the expanding terrorist network there killed over 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001. Why are there so many terrorists in the Middle East? Because false rumors and state media (like what Gadhafi is using) are infecting the minds of the people there. America and her allies (<3 goes to Canada, Britain, France, etc...) want freedom for everybody? Why is America a "world cop?" Because somebody has to stop the atrocities occurring all over the world. Why isn't the US intervening everywhere there is a crisis? Because America does not have the capacity to be everywhere. It's up to the people to choose freedom. "I'd rather die fighting on my feet than live begging on my knees."

Believe it or not, America was once like Libya. The colonists here did not like the unfair ruling of the British, so they started a revolution. The rag-tag group of untrained revolutionaries had significant victories against the British, and the then-world cop France stepped in to help. America was quiet for a while after that and then grew to where it is today. (I'm not hating on the British. Calm down, we tight dawgs).

I actually had a really weird dream last night that now makes a lot of sense. I was in Libya on the ground fighting pro-Gadhafi forces (there's like 20 spellings for "Gadhafi"). I was taking out snipers on the rooftops when a giant military-machine like thing picked me up and set me down next to a small boy. Then Gadhafi appeared. The little boy loved to do some sort of jumping thing before the revolution in Libya, but was not able to do it during the revolution. Gadhafi then won the boy's support by allowing him to do his jumping thing. The boy's family was in the Rebel army in a building nearby. Gadhafi took the boy away. When I woke up I realized that my dream had a lot of symbolism. Gadhafi is winning support by trying to give people freedom that they never had before. However, this freedom is false and the ones that realize that are rebelling against him.

Back to some of my past opinions: Why is the US not intervening everywhere in the world? Because Libyan rebels are making an attempt to fight back. The people need to choose freedom before world powers can move in to help. Now that coalition air strikes are taking place, the rebels are advancing toward Tripoli and capturing cities along the way. Just like France helped the United States during the US's period of revolution.

That's enough typing for tonight. I just wrote a book. Wow.

I think I'll leave here on a song that really describes today's events:

Father father father help us with some guidance from above. These people got me got me questioning, where is the love?

I don't agree with the "media telling lies and where is the truth?" section, but the rest of the song holds a relevant message.

Goodnight, folks.
-Scott

P.S.-MLG EXTREME might be late tomorrow. I have it recorded but I wasn't home today to edit and render it. Might be uploaded on Tuesday.

MLG EXTREME: The Movie-World Premiere Trailer (Halo 3/Halo: Reach Machinima Trailer)

Hey,

For those of you who showed up, we had a pretty fun time at the interview and then at the custom games afterward. If you didn't make it to the interview, Sean will upload it to YouTube. As soon as I have the link, I'll put it here on my blog.

If you were at the interview, then you were the first to see the new trailer to "MLG EXTREME: The Movie". I hoped to show off a little more of the plot. It's now public on my YouTube channel. You can view it here. I really hope I can get the Movie finished this April.

A Couple New Videos

Hey,

A couple new videos have been released this weekend. I did a little video with some clips from Reach that I had, and I did a review on Homefront with Wizzle.

You can see "Random Fun in Reach" here and my Homefront review here.

Also, no work got done on the MLG EXTREME movie this weekend. I was gonna work all yesterday but, as usual, I was gone all day. Sorry.

Also, this week's MLG EXTREME might get delayed as I have some other important things to do.

Thanks,
Scott

PS- Here's a reminder about my live interview coming up Saturday, March 26th at 9:00PM EST. Remember to check back here or at my twitter for updates about time or date changes.

So apparently I'm on the popular game, Akinator. Try to find me!

Here are some things that are wrong in their database but I can't change:
1. I have black hair (I really don't)
2. I have a cat (Dogs FTW)

Try and find me! It took me like 8 tries to get me. lol.

Thanks,
Scott

P.S.- Also, xWPx BloodFang made me another awesome picture. It's also available in his gallery.

MLG EXTREME Episode 59: "Goofy Grifball"

Hey,

The new MLG EXTREME is up a day early. You can view it here.

The beginning part of the episode is just a regular MLG EXTREME, but from 6:10 on is from another game that we played before we recorded this episode. My team got the other team to teabag with us. It was hilarious. If you watch any part of this episode, watch from 6:10 on. I like how this episode turned out. It's classic MLG EXTREME. Just a bunch of guys goofing off in Halo.

Thanks,
Scott

Crysis 2 Demo: Gameplay/Review

Hey,

So Wizzle and I have gotten pretty hooked on the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo lately. It's a great game. It's a perfect blend of Halo and Call of Duty.

Anyways, we did an MLG EXTREME-style review of Crysis 2. You can see it here.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 57: "Hiding on Hemorrhage"

Hey,

The new episode of MLG EXTREME is up. You can watch it here.

This one had the spark that the old ones did. There isn't any serious gameplay, just us trying out different hiding spots in Hemorrhage. And of course, there are several laughs. We even got most of the team to start hiding, too!

We also did this in the games on Hemorrhage the same night that we recorded this episode. Wizzle even managed to board a ghost through the wall that we were hiding behind. It was awesome.

In other news, I have lots of free time now and I'll be able to focus more time toward SHF. Can't wait to get to work!

Thanks,
Scott

Incoherent Rambling

Hey,

Right now as I begin typing this blog post it is 2:05AM and I have had a very long and stressful day, so please excuse the sloppiness and disorganization of this post.

I have been doing a lot of reflecting lately, and I wanted to share some of my thoughts with you guys. After all, this blog's main purpose is to give you a VIP pass inside of my mind. Some people may wonder what makes me tick. What inspires me to put up new videos every week. Things like that.

I can never help but to feel like a failure. If you're a machinima director or make any type of videos on a regular basis, then you know this feeling. I never feel like anything I do satisfies anyone. The hunger to satisfy is what makes me want to work harder. The hunger to satisfy is what makes me want to talk to you guys, too. I constantly ask you guys to talk to me. Please, communicate with me in any way possible. It's impossible for me to know what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong if you guys don't say anything. Comment on my videos, send me emails, post on my forums, tweet me, comment on these blog posts, whatever. Just tell me how you feel about SHF. I'm not trying to be a stat whore, I am honestly just looking for answers on how to improve. Don't feel like I'm unreachable. If you send me something, chances are I WILL reply.

Next up is MLG EXTREME. To be honest with you guys, I have no idea why you guys find it so damn entertaining. I'm almost bored with the series now. PLEASE DON'T MISINTERPRET THAT LAST STATEMENT. I'm not thinking about ending the series. That has never even crossed my mind. What I mean by "being bored with the series" is that I don't think it has the same spark as it used to. That may just be because I'm the one making the videos. Most directors dislike their work. I just think that MLG EXTREME needs more. As soon as I'm done with the MLG EXTREME movie, I'll get to work on that.

I've also been thinking on expanding outside of MLG EXTREME and Halo. I want to do something different. I want to make more machinima, I want to do more gameplay, and I want to do reviews. I want to take SHF in a "Rooster Teeth direction" I guess. Starting Wednesday, I'm going to have a LOT more time on my hands for ShawtyHullstineFilms, so I'll try and start working on other projects soon.

Expect to see a boost in quality sometime this summer. I'm planning on buying a more powerful computer, so I'll be able to use my tools to their full capacity. Sweet. High five! I just need to save up a little more money. The price of gas sucks right now, so that really isn't helping.

If you want to do what we do, go for it. Record gameplay, have fun, write shit, make machinima, do whatever. The greatest part about the Halo/Bungie community is that there are several talented artists who express themselves in so many different ways. It's what makes Halo such a unique game. It draws people together and gives them an outlet of creativity. So make videos or do whatever you're good at. Go for it.

I dunno. I think that's all I wanted to talk about. I don't remember. I'm tired. If I think of anything else, I'll edit this post or something.

Oh. And a big thanks goes out to all of those who subscribe to ShawtyHullstineFilms. Seriously, you guys rock. You have no idea how much each subscription means to me. Thanks for doing your part in supporting us. As long as you continue to support us and give us feedback, we'll continue to give you guys awesome videos.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 56: "Showdown"

Hey,

The new MLG EXTREME is up. You can view it here.

It's a decent episode. We played 2 vs. 2 against some douchebags we met in Grifball.

Also, significant strides have been made on the MLG EXTREME movie this weekend. ETA is 2 weeks, although that is subject to change.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 55: "Of Mice and Mythics"

Hey,

The new MLG EXTREME is up. You can view it here.

Also, I've been chipping away at the MLG EXTREME movie. Lots of mistakes I have to fix already. Hang tight, a couple more weeks and it should be out.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 54: "Zip Line"

Hey,

So the new MLG EXTREME is up. It was a real quick Monday night filming session because while I was editing the one that was supposed to air this week I realized that I didn't output Wizzle's voice while recording.

The episode that was supposed to air this week might have been the greatest MLG EXTREME that has ever aired. Dylan and I challenged 2 MLG guys and ended up winning. It was hilarious. I'll post the raw file later.

They got all pissed off because they lost and they started bitching about the plasma grenades on the map. We put the "dodgeball" gametype up next to piss them off. We lost that game, but we were laughing too hard.

The next game the MLG guy put on his MLG map and he was all pissed off and bitching about how plasma pistols weren't MLG. Wizzle found a plasma pistol on his map and we went around screaming because we found the non-MLG plasma pistol. We lost that game too, but we didn't care. It was an awesome night.

So sorry guys, my bad. I'll try and push for the MLG movie this weekend to make it up, but I probably won't be able to get done. This week is gonna be insane for me.

Oh, and you can view the new MLG EXTREME here.

Thanks,
Scott

Here we go Packers, here we go!

Hey,

Let's go Packers! 24-20 Packers will be the score tonight, you heard it here folks. And for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, take a gander at this.

Also, the MLG EXTREME movie is slowly but surely coming along. The editing process has been cruel to me. I actually could have it done by now, but I'm lazy. I posted a teaser trailer last night. It's actually the first scene from the movie. It's pretty boring, but the action and humor pick up in the next scene. I'm guessing the movie is going to be over 15 minutes long.

You can see the teaser trailer here.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME: The Movie- Coming to a computer near you!

Hey,

So I wanted to give you guys some news on "MLG EXTREME: The Movie."

Today I finished filming and voice acting. The only thing left to do is editing, which I should be able to get done this weekend, if not sooner.

Truth is, I'm scared to death to release it. I don't want to disappoint the people I've been hyping for a month. Unless you've ever released a major machinima in your lifetime, you probably don't know how I feel. Everything is riding on this machinima.

Well that's it for now. Hopefully I'll see you guys this weekend with great news. We'll see what happens.

Thanks,
Scott

EDIT-Problems, guys. The movie won't be out for another week or two.

MLG EXTREME Episode 53: "Dodgeball"

Hey,

So the new MLG EXTREME is up. You can view it here.

Sorry about the mic quality in this episode. There was a slight echo (don't know where it came from) and I was breathing into it a bit.

Oh, and a quick update on MLG EXTREME: The Movie. I have all of the scenes acted out and most of the voicing done. Should be another 1 or 2 weeks before it's out. Can't wait!

Thanks,
Scott

Also, if you have time please comment on this post with your YouTube username, so I know who exactly is following us. Also, give us some suggestions about how we could better serve our subscribers. It's nice information for us to have.

MLG EXTREME Episode 52: "One Year in the Making"

Hey,

So Monday is MLG EXTREME's first birthday. Since the promo aired on 1/24/10, we have released an episode of MLG EXTREME every week. Sure there were some delays, but an episode has been released every week for the past year. That's something to be proud of.

You can see the 1 year special of MLG EXTREME here.

Thanks,
Scott

P.S.- I don't really think that our work is worth much, but I know a lot of you out there do. Thanks so much for all of the support. All of you guys are awesome. Seriously. All of you are my motivation, and I'll do whatever I can to make the supporters (I hate to call you guys "fans" because I think it sounds like I'm making myself superior) of ShawtyHullstineFilms happy.

MLG EXTREME Episode 51: "Marksman Challenge"

Hey,

So this week's MLG EXTREME wasn't late after all. You can view MLG EXTREME Episode 51: "Marksman Challenge" here. This episode kicks off season 6 of MLG EXTREME!!!

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 50: "Paradiso"

Hey,

So it's almost a week late, but the new MLG EXTREME is here. Click here to view it.

I gotta say, this one was hilarious, especially towards the end. If you watch any part of that video, but sure to watch at 11:27 and 12:58. 11:27 is fail of the week material.

Anyways, that wraps up season 5 of MLG EXTREME. Hope you guys enjoyed it! Season 6 starts Monday. (Although a delay of that might be looming as well.)

In other news, MLG EXTREME: The Movie is progressing at a great rate. This weekend, the script was finished (the script is never finished until the final product is released, but all the dialogue is finalized) and all of the voice parts were handed out to several different voice actors. There is over 120 lines of dialogue! If the movie keeps progressing at this rate, then mid-February seems like a reasonable due-date.

I had people look over the script this weekend and they said the story was solid and that this machinima has the potential to be great. However, they also said that if I fail at the execution, then this thing will flop. And since this thing is also going to MachinimaRevive, (it will also be on my channel as well) there is more pressure on me. I really hope I don't screw this thing up.

Oh, and Bloodfang gave me a website with some awesome free royalty-free music, so expect the musical score in the movie (and all of my future machinimas) to be awesome.

Peace out,
Scott

News and Stuff

Hey,

So first I would just like to thank all of the people who take time out of their day to watch our videos. It feels rewarding to know that, after hours of hard work, someone is willing to sit down and watch them.

Secondly, I want to give another thanks to anyone who has gone out of their way to press the subscribe button. Yesterday we reached 100 subscribers. I have a feeling that ShawtyHullstineFilms is starting to get some recognition.

As more and more viewers start following us, it's vital that you guys continue to communicate with me. Email me, comment here, comment on YouTube, comment on my channel, talk in the forums, and do whatever it takes to let me know how to improve. All of you who are serious about making YouTube videos know how frustrating it is when people don't give you constructive criticism. You are never able to tell if people liked the video or if people hated it.

I also wanted to give a quick update on MLG EXTREME: The Movie. A lot of work has already been put into it. There's no going back now. I'm giving myself a 1 month deadline for this thing. Wizzle and I have already built a storyline and it's really good. Lots of people told me that the trailer was really powerful and that they are all excited for the movie. We're just as excited.

Also, this week's MLG EXTREME is probably gonna be delayed until next weekend. We were so busy working on MLG EXTREME: The Movie this weekend that we completely blew off MLG EXTREME. Sorry.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME: The Movie Trailer

Hey,

So it's been way too long since our last Machinima! But, with the help of Wizzle and maybe some others, our most ambitious Machinima should be released within a month. This Machinima, however, is based off of our popular gameplay/commentary series, "MLG EXTREME." That's why it's called MLG EXTREME: The Movie.

To get you guys pumped, I've made a trailer. You can view it here.

I can't really give you guys any specifics other than what's in the trailer. As you can see, those two Spartans in the trailer are me and Wizzle.

I'll probably release another trailer right before the video comes out.

I'm going to be tight-lipped about this whole thing until the actual movie is released. I want to keep you guys guessing and I want to keep you guys interested. MLG EXTREME will continue to run its normal schedule. (Well, most likely with several delays).

Remember a time when heroes were born...
...Remember how it all began.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME Episode 49: "Boardwalk"

Hey,

MLG EXTREME Episode 49: "Boardwalk" is up. You can view it here.

I forgot to fill in the episode name and number in the intro. Sorry about that. I also forgot to to change "recorded in 2010" to "recorded in 2011" in the credits. Whoops.

Anyway, it's an OK episode this week. We were both exhausted when we recorded this. Wizzle added some awesome commentary (he actually just made fun of a guy) but I didn't talk that much. You guys probably don't even want to hear my voice anyway.

I like the way my videos look now. Looks very professional.

Thanks,
Scott

MLG EXTREME: "A Trip to The Past" and other stuff

Hey,

Happy New Year! 2010 was a great year for SHF. Lots of stuff has been done! Lets hope that 2011 kicks just as much ass!

I want to jump into the updates first. Since we've started using our new equipment, it's occurred to me that things aren't going to be as easy as they once were. Monster file sizes were a problem right of the bat. It took me over 3 hours to upload this MLG EXTREME. The other problem is the fact that Vegas Pro 9 is slightly too powerful for my computer, meaning that there are a lot of failed renders. Rendering now takes about 2 hours. I plan on getting a more powerful computer this summer, so hopefully that situation can be resolved.

I'd also like to point out that my voice-overs in MLG EXTREME might be a bit off now. It's difficult to determine when to start recording audio with this new HD PVR. Just give me a few episodes to get the hang of it.

All in all, there will be delays with MLG EXTREME now. I'm way too busy of a person, especially during the fall and winter months.

I also promised you guys machinima. Well, that never got done while Wizzle and I were on break. Sorry guys, but the sequel to Fanboy will have to wait until spring or summer. The good news is that I'm working on a project that the both of us can work on from home, so stay tuned about that.

The new MLG EXTREME is up. You can view it here. Sorry about the delay. Technical issues were a nightmare.

Thanks,
Scott

P.S.- I took a shot at Photoshop and made my own YouTube background. It's not very good, but it's a start. Check it out!
